In my art, I explore the many ways that homes provide us with a sense of security, stability, and belonging. Our homes are not just physical spaces, but also reflections of our identity, values, and they play a crucial role in shaping our sense of self. Speculative Architecture is the creation of space and structures, so I decided to create a space that welcomed those who need one. This project was created to provide a sustainable shelter as an option for those who need help, designing a structure that will be quick to build, easy to access, effortless to maintain, and provide a roof in all temperatures.
Through my art, I hope to inspire greater awareness and action around the issue of homelessness and to promote the idea that having a home is a basic human right. Researching multiple databases to uncover the easiest techniques to construct this shelter. Using the most inexpensive, convenient, and accessible materials along with simple techniques to construct a shelter that will inspire greater awareness and action around the issue of homelessness and promote the idea that having a home is a basic human right. I believe that by working together to create more equitable and sustainable housing options, we can create a world where everyone has access to the comfort, security, and dignity of a place to call home
Some of the goals for this project include the creation of floor plans, side elevations, and instructions on how to fully construct such structures. This instruction manual will have a step-by-step tutorial on how to build and reshape this to one’s accommodation. The ultimate goal is to share knowledge and give an alternative choice to a tent, an option that not everyone receives, and the trampoline that will help people bounce back up onto their feet by giving them a temporary home. This home can be what they are mainly looking for but don’t receive, a simple shelter that will give them a feeling of safety, and a roof that will give them the courage to go out into the world and perceive more. The potential of creating communities with multiple installations!
